And I quote...."This game will make your night a blast!"

Ever wanted a game you could play while playing another game? Yup, that's right a game within a game! Crazy stuff, we know. We are excited to introduce you to a little gem of a game for those looking to spice up their game nights.

The goal of Quota is simple, sneak your secret quote into a conversation without getting caught and score points. See who can score the most points by the end of your night and that person is the winner.

Setup:

  • Have each person playing pick a card to get started.

  • Decide if you want to play for fun or for a wager. Quota suggests having either a prize for the winner or a punishment for the loser.

  • If playing for a wager, pick a trusty scorekeeper and set a definitive start and end time for playing.

Quota Deck and Card

How to Play:

  • Choose one of the two quotes on your card and sneak it into a conversation throughout the night without getting caught. Successful? Score the designated amount of points on the card (between 1 and 3).

  • If you think someone is trying to use one of their quotes you can call them out. Do this and name who said the quote in question and you score a bonus point.

  • If at any time you are caught or successful, pick a new card.

  • You can play to a certain number of points or for a certain amount of time. Whoever reaches the total points, or has the most points at the end of the time is the victor.

Quota Cards

Our Thoughts:

Just a note: as the game is dependent on not knowing the quotes others may be playing, we will be sharing very limited amounts of the quotes included in Quota during our review. Know that they are varied in subject, length, and complexity to work into a conversation seamlessly.

Quota filled our game night with laughs. At first, we wound up all trying to use fake quotes while we were talking thinking it would help our real quotes blend in better. But as the night wore on we started to find ways to tweak our conversation to better fit the quotes we had. We had multiple times where a quote slid right into the conversation unnoticed by anyone, no matter how bizarre the quote seems when read by itself.

Quota Box Open

We played Quota while we played Story Machine Game's other game we reviewed, Sacred Rites. The two games pair really well together, as Sacred Rites asks you to create all sorts of funny rituals so some of the quotes do not seem out of place when discussing your sacred secrets.

When the pandemic is finally over and we can resume going out in the world again, Quota would be a blast to bring to a bar with friends one night and see who can fit quotes into that sort of setting.

In its cool flip-top box, Quota is small enough to bring with you wherever you go. Throw it in your bag and never be without a game. We can vouch that if you bring Quota to your next game night it's bound to make many wonderful memories!
